The second Fulton In Residence tour took place from November 20 - 28, 2022
in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
After months of preparation apart, and over 30 hours of traveling, Fulton faculty and students finally arrived in Vietnam and were greeted by volunteers from our host collaborating organization, the Imagine Philharmonic Orchestra.
Each morning started with three hours of rehearsal with the Imagine Philharmonic Orchestra at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in preparation for our two concerts at the end of the week. The program included several Baroque concertos for multiple violins that featured the collaboration of Fulton and Vietnamese musicians.
The Vietnamese and Fulton students all benefited from several masterclasses over the course of the week. FIR students played for Le Minh Hien and Thien Bao Pham Vu, who both teach at the HCMC Conservatory and are principal players in the HBSO. Local students played for FIR director Addison Teng.
Between rehearsals, masterclasses, and concerts, FIR students experienced the culture, history, and natural beauty of Vietnam. The local musicians were eager to share their favorite eats (pictured). The FIR students also visited historical sites related to the Vietnam War, bringing their history studies to life.
Stay tuned for where Fulton In Residence
will travel next!
